Mäpt Su-iyurilf (/su/ /iˈjurilf/ [clear; transparent] [existence]) is a temperate Town located in the Wápkunju Principality of the City-state of Konei.

The name Mäpt Su-iyurilf is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Su-iyurilf was founded by Shepí vyim Glə˞tunk, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a yearly average temperature of 1°C (33°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 24°C (75°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a freezing -21°C (-5°F). Mäpt Su-iyurilf receives an average of 204 cm/y (80 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Su-iyurilf covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3882 m (12736 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt Su-iyurilf was founded durring the late 16th century in fall of the year 1470, by Shepí vyim Glə˞tunk. The establishment of Mäpt Su-iyurilf was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Shepí vyim Glə˞tunk electing to pay people to resettle in Mäpt Su-iyurilf.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the late 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Su-iyurilf is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf is is constructed arround a series of spacious packed earth mainstreets which form overlapping circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to eachother at varrious points. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The minimaly adiquite has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Mäpt Su-iyurilf’s streets. Yet, deep down, you know this atmosphere is a carefully created illusion. You can see the ocasional seam in their tapestry. You’re not sure what has them doing their best to act so carefree, but act carefree they do.

Civic Infrastructure

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Mäpt Su-iyurilf. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Mäpt Su-iyurilf's parks.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mäpt Su-iyurilf.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Su-iyurilf's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Mäpt Su-iyurilf's natural decorations nor waterways.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Mäpt Su-iyurilf's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is famous for its stately symmetry, classical elements, and grand appearance. Columns and pillars, such as Corinthian columns, are often seen supporting open structures or porticos. Symmetry is an important feature of this style, with each half of a building mirroring the other. Domed ceilings and windows grace these buildings, with everything placed in a mathematical arrangement.

In Mäpt Su-iyurilf snow is warm to the touch and does not melt within city limits. Also it only happens during summer.

The Hare, Arctic near Mäpt Su-iyurilf are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Mäpt Su-iyurilf's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves ritual combat to channel Truename Magic energies of tier 1 via oath swearing.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Mäpt Su-iyurilf was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Mäpt Su-iyurilf lost 232 people, 120 livestock, and 78 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 109, when members of Mäpt Su-iyurilf's militia enacted an operation to fortify a particular mine. The operation was complicated by major logistical problems. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in a stalemate for Mäpt Su-iyurilf's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Mäpt Su-iyurilf's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
